Montana - Day Three

We woke up at 5:30 a.m. We toured some friends around Yellowstone National Park. We went to Gibbon Falls. The first animal we saw was big horn elk, there were 2 big bull elks. Then we went to the Grand Canyon. I saw a chipmunk there. The next animal we saw was a bear. It was a grizzly bear. We were up really close to it. It was fun. It wasn’t paying attention to all the people. There was like a million people.

We hiked up a waterfall on the Beartooth Hi
ghway.

Casey said there is a bat in the Pyke Cabin.

We had a triple rainbow after a hail storm.

Montana - Day One

The next day, we had to drive for five hours, which was boring. We finally arrived in Montana.

The day after we arrived, we hiked up a mountain called Mountain Washburn. We hiked all the way up. I had never been to the top of a mountain. It was hard. There was a little rest area at the top. We were 10,243 feet high! The rest area had benches and a spying scope. On the way down the mountain, there was a really bad storm that did not stay very long. It took us one hour fifteen minutes to get down. It took us four hours to get up. My favorite thing about the trail is you could see very far. You could see all the way to Grand Teton, it was pretty amazing!

Utah - Breaking Down

We went on Antelope Island. It is in the Salt Lake. We saw a couple pronghorn antelope, and tons and tons of bison.

We went to go hiking and then the Suburban overheated. Near the driver’s seat at the front, the Suburban was leaking. While we waited for the tow truck, we hiked a quarter of a mile up the hill. We could see a lot of Antelope Island. Next, we rented a car and they came to pick us up in his new Cadillac. We rented a minivan.

The next day, we got the Suburban and about 20 minutes later, Bryan and I we were driving the Suburban. Mommy was driving Casey’s car. Then something flew off the road and it went boom into our windshield. It cracked everywhere. The glass flew into the car. We could not see through the middle of the windshield.

We rented another car, a Toyota Highlander. We were planning to go to Grand Teton the same day the windshield broke. We could not go because of the windshield. So we had to stay there one more night.

Pokemon

This week I went to Math Camp. I got a new stuffed animal called pokemon and I got a pokemon gamecard from Burger King. I worked on a 100 chart. You have to count all the way to 100 with no numbers on the chart. You have to draw them all. We play games in the computer lab that are rather unusual. I don't know the games. I see Jeremy at Math camp and at science camp I saw Angel. We played with pattern blocks. You dont make patterns with them. You make stuff with them. They are 2D.

Brad and Abbey got a new house. It is bigger than their old house. They could roller skate in their basement! They have a nice upstairs. There was a humongous bathroom and a humongous bath tub and the shower was small and separate. The bathtub looked like a sink. A LARGE sink.

We are getting ready to go on vacation to Montana. Cousin Casey is coming!

I cant think of anything else. Goodbye.

Comments

I really like reading all of your comments. It is really fun! I want to answer some of your questions.

From Anne:

When are you starting school? Do you know who your teacher for this year yet?

I am starting school at the end of August. I do not know who my teacher is for this year yet. I am going to first grade this year. I am going to a new school called Olde Sawmill Elementary. They have a big playground. It has tires, and there is a tire bridge there. It is hard to cross!

From Matthew:

What did moths do at night before electricity?

I dont know! They just flew around. Maybe they flew towards the moon.

From Grandpa Jim:

How is you brother doing?

He is doing good.

From Uncle Brad:

I hope Bryan was gentle when he pulled your tooth out. Did it hurt?

It kinda hurt.

Thank you for your questions! Please ask more!

Love,
Riley

Zoombezi Bay!

I went on four water slides. A humongous one and a couple of small ones. The first one we went on was pretty fast. It was curvy. The second water slide was squiggly. The humongous one was straight and bumpy. It was big. It was like 100 feet tall! I saw Spencer from my baseball team at Zoombezi Bay. He went down the squiggly slide with us. Grandpa Jim didn't go down slides. Elizabeth was scared because she is afraid of heights. There was this cool water slide called Storm Ride. It was shaped like a funnel. It got smaller and smaller. You go down a water slide until you get to the tub and then when you get in the funnel you go to side to side. I did not go on it though. It was my first time at Zoombezi Bay! It was with Elizabeth and Grandpa Jim.

Today is July 25, 2008.

Today at Science Camp, we did experiments. We did four experiments. The first experiment was putting pepper into a cup of water. It bubbled. We rubbed a finger in soap and put it in the water with the pepper, and the pepper spread apart. I cant remember the second experiment. The third experiment was with raisins and craisins and soda. We put the raisins and craisins in the soda. It got lots of bubble and the raisin floated up. Mine was going up and down, dancing. Then we played with slime. Mr. B. made the slime. The slime was orange. It felt gooey and cold. It was sticky. Peyton was covered from chin to hair. Peyton is from my baseball team. My baseball team is the Marlins.

Next week I am going to math camp.
